Inez - how love means more than sight!
Inez was a young dog (born in May 2007) who came into PAWS care in May 2010 because she was losing her sight. This made her almost impossible to home. A young, friendly dog who should have had many years of active life ahead of her - her future was bleak.

She was one of the dogs featured in an appeal by our sister organisation PAWS Holland, to provide funds for special treatment. But fate intervened in the form of Cindy, a Dutch lady who had been a volunteer at the shelter and who after working with Inez came to understand her needs and special requirements. Cindy arranged to take Inez back home to Holland, where she duly arrived on 26th October 2010.
How did she do in her new surroundings? - let Cindy explain:
"She is doing great and adjusting to life in Holland very well.
I think her sight is about the same. The only time I really notice her poor sight is when I walk her
at night. I have to make sure she doesn't walk into things.
We had lots of snow here and Inez absolutely loved it. We go to the park as often as possible
to play with a tennis ball. That is when you get to see Inez at her happiest, running around carefree chasing the ball.

On Saturdays we go to dog training for an hour where she gets to play with lots of other dogs while I get
useful advice.
The only 'problem' is her fear of loud noises like the slamming of a door or a bus driving by .... noises
which are pretty inevitable in a big city like Utrecht. But hopefully that will get better too.
Adopting Inez was my best decision of 2010 and I can't imagine a life without her.
So it's fair to say I think we are both very happy with each other." And here's the proof!
